The Baltic Institute of Finland leverages strong national and international networks to drive impactful collaboration. We conceptualize, plan and coordinate international projects across the Baltic Sea region and throughout Europe, turning ideas into action through strategic partnerships and EU-funded initiatives. Since 2018, we have served as the main coordinator for the Policy Area Innovation within the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) – supporting transnational cooperation and advancing innovation-driven development across the region.
Established in 1994, over 200 projects completed
With over 30 years of experience, the Baltic Institute of Finland is a recognized leader in Baltic Sea and European cooperation. We have built a strong network of international partners and a solid track record in facilitating impactful, results-driven collaboration. Our expertise lies especially in innovation cooperation between cities and regions. To date, we’ve led or contributed to over 200 international projects and organized hundreds of events across the Baltic Sea region and beyond.
Proven results in project development and management
In 2023-2024 alone, the Baltic Institute of Finland implemented 26 EU and development projects in Tampere and played a key role in preparing 30 new project proposals. Of these, 21 received positive funding decisions, making this the most successful two-year period in the Institute’s history. Projects prepared under our leadership during this time secured a total of €26.4 million in EU funding, with €9.2 million directly benefiting the City of Tampere. Our projects are carried out to a high standard, effectively, and in line with planned schedules and budgets.
